Welcome! I’m Tori, the author of this blog, Swimming in Sakura. I am a California girl who dreams big while aspiring to live simply.  I’m always trying to expand my knowledge and work towards making my dreams come true and I hope I can help inspire you to do the same!

After completing graduate school a few years ago, I found myself lost- I was finally in my career and I had no idea what would come next. So after some time spinning my wheels and remembering that, yes, I did have other goals outside my work life, I quit my job and moved to Japan (ok, so it wasn’t quite as impulsive and dramatic as I make it sound). Aside from my career aspirations, experiencing Japan was by far my biggest ambition and longest standing bucket list item. I’ve loved this wonderful experience! But as I wind down on my time here I am again faced with the ominous question: what comes next?

So in addition to continuing to catalog my journeys in Japan, I’ll continue use this blog to document my next big goals in life and how I am working to achieve them through planning and document them through journaling. I’m a firm believer in constantly improving yourself, continual learning, and striving for your dreams. I hope my journey helps inspire you, and that you’ll join me on the path of discovering and becoming your very best self!

Ultimately, my goal with this blog is to share my journey through traveling, creativity and personal development in order to inspire others and build a community of individuals who are constantly striving to become their best self.
